Very serene, calm, creative cafe. It has a very je ne said quoi to it that I love so much! Ordered the white wine and deconstructed rare cheesecake. Excellent pairing to the place.

Out of all the experiences that I had on Miyajima Island in one packed day I would say that my visit to KAKIWAI is right near the top. From the moment I stumbled across the subtle entrance it felt like I was experiencing something special. The staff was incredibly friendly and the energy of the dining area immediately set me at ease. I had just come down from the ropeway after trekking to the mountain top and resting here for just a bit reenergized me for the rest of the day. The views out are stunning and every bit of the interior feels so intentional and thoughtful. The cheesecake was unreal and the coffee was excellent. I had mine black and it was very well balanced and strong. I will definitely make my way back to KAKIWAI someday.

This is really a hidden jewel. Amazing view from both sides with nice windows and lovely service. I had the cake + wine package, and as with most everything in Japan, superb quality.

Lovely staff and great views. Its quiet and tranquil. Only a few things on offer on the menu, but it's a spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
